What is Sclerotherapy?
The treatment of varicose and spider veins by injecting medication that collapses the vein and forces blood to reroute through healthier veins.

Desired outcomes are usually achieved with 1-4 treatments.
Preparation for your appointment
- Come with clean skin. If unable to do so, the area with be cleansed by the provider.
- Do not shave the night before or the day of. Large open pores creates a greater risk for infection.
- If this is your first treatment, a thorough health history and consent must be completed prior to your treatment.
- Bring compression stockings with you if you have some at home. If you do not, I suggest purchasing some prior to your appointment. If you have benefits a prescription can be provided by your family doctor.
Post treatment care
- Put on your compression stockings and walk as much as possible for 15 minutes to help the medication circulate.
- Wear the compression stockings as much as possible for a minimum of 14 days and as often as you can tolerate afterwards.
- Bruising is common but should resolve within 7 days. If you are experiencing pain, redness, swelling or shortness of breath contact myself and your health care provider for further direction.
